football, rajiv gandhi and karate kids

jawahar navodaya vidyalaya is a government-run co-educational residential school in bishnupur district, manipur, which claims to have produced some notable students, considering the odds of getting good education in a state torn by insurgency, extortion and organised crime. the school has students from class 4 to class 12.

manipur takes football seriously.

manipur kingdom prince bir tikendrajit (1856-1891), general thangal singh (1821-1891) and former prime minister rajiv gandhi (1944-1991).

it's time for games every evening at the school, and students are not allowed to stay in their dorms during this period. some prefer to do yoga instead.

karate kids.

a pleasant day to play now and worry later about homework.

on the way to the school in bishnupur district, national highway 150.
